    Job Description:

    This position is responsible for instruction, supervising, and evaluating nursing assistant students in the educational environment within the framework of the program’s four Program Learning Outcomes:

    • PLO 1: Utilize cultural humility when interacting with patients, individuals, and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. (ICD)
    • PLO2: Provide patient-centered nursing assistant care for diverse groups in the community in a manner that is legal, ethical, safe, and demonstrates caring. (RES)
    • PLO 3: Demonstrate professional behaviors including conflict management and effective communication skills. (COM)
    • PLO 4: Demonstrate competence with skills and standards of practice for nursing assistant certification. (COK) (CRT) (IIT)

    Tacoma Community College is recruiting a Workforce Education Navigator who will perform a variety of duties to promote the success of Workforce funded students including Worker Retraining, WorkFirst, Opportunity Grant, and Basic Food Employment and Training.

    Some essential functions include:

    • Identify, develop and participate in outreach activities (orientations, funding workshops, and individual student appointments) to attract and serve Workforce eligible students
    • Guide student application process for funding and various processes of applying and enrolling to the college
    • Authorize the awarding of student tuition, books and support service funding based on eligibility criteria for multiple programs
    • Develop and maintain student records and reports as required by the college and other agencies
    • Provide retention and follow-up services to assist students in career exploration, to ensure student compliance with program policies and foster student success

    Salary

    $54,000 per year

    The Career and College Pathway Academy (CCPA) is a small cohort of students who work with two instructors to earn dual credits (HS and college), increase their academics to college readiness, and explore career and education options at the same time!

    CCPA will build your skills to prepare you for work and training:

    • Workplace Communication Skills
    • Targeted Writing Instruction
    • Work and College Success Strategies
    • Career and Job Exploration
    • College Credits Toward a Certificate/Degree

    Laid off? Receiving TANF or Basic Food? Need skills to increase your income? Funding may be available!

    There is a good chance that you will qualify for one of the Workforce Education grants, and if you act quickly, you can be starting your college pathway by next Monday, with your costs covered!
