    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Maintaining, calibrating, and operating test equipment under the direction of a project leader or the TSD management.
    Preparing test specimens under the direction of the supervisor. Maintaining
    orderly and accurate records of work.
    Assisting the supervisor in the design and construction of new test equipment,
    test jigs, or related items necessary to the operation of the laboratory.
    Assuming responsibility as assigned for setting up test equipment conducting tests and recording data.
    Maintaining records as directed of equipment operation, test results, and other necessary information within the scope of the assigned research project.
    Performing calculations necessary in the reduction of raw test data using office calculators or desktop computers under professional supervision.
    Following accident prevention programs, works safely, and maintaining a clean
    work area.
    Following a maintenance program on all laboratory equipment and performing such other general maintenance as may be assigned.
    Maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and ordering new supplies as needed.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    HS degree or equivalent. Some vocational or technical training preferred.
    1-2 years related shop/laboratory/construction experience preferred.
    Experience operating table, radial arm, and band saws. Welding experience a plus.
    Experience with computers. Microsoft Excel experience a plus.
    Recent forklift experience.
    A valid WA driver’s license and a clean driving record.
    Ability to lift 50 – 75 lbs. on a routine basis.
    All staff hired after July 30, 2021, must provide acceptable evidence of Covid vaccination or acceptable evidence of initiation of the vaccination process prior to start date unless they are exempt by federal, state, or local mandate.

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    The Associate Laboratory Technician is a full-time, salaried, overtime eligible position.
    Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts.

    SALARY & BENEFITS:

    $43,000 – $63,000 per year, overtime eligible.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The person in this position will be harvesting, packaging, weeding, washing and cooling of row crop vegetables, pumpkins, berries, rhubarb, zucchini, celery, and corn.

     

    Work is done in the field for long periods of time. The person in this position may assist in handling product weighing up to 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 3 feet. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking.

     

    Work required in fields when plants are wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from 30 to over 90 degrees F. The person in this position may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations.

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    * Willing to commit to the entire contract period

    * 3 months of experience in harvesting of row crop vegetables

    * Able to lift 60 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day

     

    HOURS/DAYS/SCHEDULE

    Contract period: September 3rd, 2021 through November 26th, 2021

    8 hours per day Monday through Saturday.

     

    SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS

    $16.34 per hour.

     

    The payroll period shall be bi-weekly.   

    The employer will furnish, without charge, all tools, supplies and personal protective equipment required in the performance of the specified work.

    Employer provided housing/kitchen facilities are available for employees who are unable to reasonably return to their place of residence the same day.

    Employer does not provide meals. Employer-provided housing includes free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities with appropriate equipment, appliances, cooking accessories, and dishwashing facilities for meal preparation. In the event that kitchen facilities become unavailable during the contract period, employer will provide three daily meals in accordance with 20 CFR 655.122(g). In such circumstances, employer will deduct the cost of such meals up to the maximum allowable amount published in the Federal Register (currently $13.17 per day), or as otherwise approved by the U.S. Department of Labor.

    Transportation costs to the job site for domestic workers from outside the local commuting distance of the job site will be reimbursed by the employer after 50% of the contract period.  Transportation costs from the job site to workers’ home will be provided to those domestic workers that complete the entire contract period.

    Employer guarantees to offer employment for the hourly equivalent of 3/4 or 75% of the workdays of the work contract beginning with the first day of work.
