    Journeyman Automotive Technician Full Time

    Compensation: $26.00 – $33.00 hourly
    Monday-Friday from 7:50 am – 5:00 pm

    Position Goal 

    Responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, alignment, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, electrical components, etc on a variety of cars, trucks and motorhomes. Provide mentoring and training to other technicians and apprentices. Responsible for adhering to Graham Auto Repair (GAR) purpose, vision, essentials, and core values.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform correct repair
    • Perform digital vehicle inspections (DVI) on every vehicle
    • Perform work as outlined on work order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with shop and factory standards. Follow set guidelines by using the correct procedures, manuals, diagrams, and safety protocols.
    • Must comply with safety regulations, PPE, and shop procedures
    • Report any unsafe or negligent actions or repairs to the Production Manager immediately.
    • Test-drive vehicles before and after to test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
    • Maintain detailed records of repairs, services performed, and parts used. Documents diagnostics results and recommendations.
    • Immediately communicate to the Service Advisors if additional work is needed.
    • Correctly and adequately document and explain repairs, issues, and recommended services for customers
    • Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
    • Perform auto care and maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid changes, fluid level checks, A/C and heating checks, tire checks, etc
    • Provide exceptional customer service
    • Responsible for keeping the bay area, shop area, and lunchroom clean, organized, and safe at all times.
    • Keep a professional appearance
    • Vacuum, clean windows and pickle vehicles.
    • Must complete 40 hours of additional training per year.
    • Mentor technicians and apprentice technicians
    • Assists with other duties as assigned

    Position Requirements and Qualifications 

    • Journeyman Level Technician 4 years of experience with automotive repair, diagnostics equipment, and scan tools required.
    • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
    • Must obtain 609 certification within 30 days of hire.
    • Must be able to obtain at least one ASE certification within one year of hire.
    • Must take 2 ASE tests per year until A1- A8 are obtained
    • Must have your own tools.
    • Must have strong problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to follow instructions and strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
    • Ability to use power and hand tools.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Great organizational skills.

    Physical & Mental Demands & Working Conditions

    Must be able to move and stand for long periods of time. Repetitive movements such as bending, reaching, stretching, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling. Must have hand and eye coordination. Must have excellent manual dexterity and fine motor skills. Ability to reach above head for long periods of time. Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with odors present. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must be able to maintain focus in a busy workshop environment.

    Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job. The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

    Be a part of something new! The Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility is being stood up by Washington state’s Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, Health Care Authority with generous support from MultiCare and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

    The property was designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space. The voluntary facility will initially serve 12 youth.

    This new therapeutic facility is slated to open in July to help youth, age 13 and older, with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have complex needs such as mental illness or substance use disorder.

    King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.

    We are hiring for:

    Executive Medical Officer (part-time)

    This position located in Burien, is responsible for:

    • Leading the coordination and operational effectiveness of the facility’s psychiatric and medical services.
    • Providing consultation on clinical matters related to nursing, rehabilitation and other professional services.
    • Participating in the formulation of treatment/care and administrative procedures for clinical services.
