Overview:

  • The private investigator intern will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the East West Consulting Group, a group a Veteran-owned entrepreneurial businesses. Primary duties will be to provide investigative support to East West Security & Consulting, a local private investigations business headquartered in Tacoma, WA. Secondary duties will be to support the growth and development of several other small companies to include Destiny Technologies International, a non-profit tech business that supports Veterans, families and youth and local communities, Northwest Overwatch, Aloha Pacific Security, and growth of business in other regions.

 

II.   POSITION OVERVIEW

  • We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Private Investigator for an internship within our team. The ideal candidate will provide investigative support to one or more licensed private investigators operating in Washington state in conducting their day-to-day activities. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, and impeccable attention to detail.

 

 III.   PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This internship may include investigative activities in any of the following areas:
  • Conduct Investigations: Carry out comprehensive investigations into a wide array of matters including criminal activities, missing persons, background checks, domestic disputes, or fraud.
  • Surveillance: Monitor the activities of subjects using surveillance equipment and techniques to gather evidence or information.
  • Research: Perform extensive research, utilizing both online and offline resources, to gather information relevant to a case or subject.
  • Interviewing: Interview individuals to obtain statements, information, and clues pertinent to the investigation.
  • Evidence Collection: Collect, document, and preserve evidence that may be used in legal proceedings or for client information.
  • Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports summarizing the findings of the investigation, including the methods used and the information uncovered.
  • Liaison with Law Enforcement: When necessary, work in coordination with law enforcement agencies to exchange information and provide assistance on certain cases.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to update them on progress, understand their needs, and present findings in a comprehensible manner.

 

IV.   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensing: Private investigators in Washington are required to be licensed, and the ideal candidate would either be licensed or intends to apply for a Private Investigator license in the future.
  • Experience: None required, by prior experience in law enforcement, military, or security work is often beneficial.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze information and data to make connections and uncover details not immediately obvious.
  • Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills for interviewing, reporting, and client interaction.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with surveillance technology and equipment, such as videos and camera systems, as well as proficiency in using databases and the internet for research.
  • Ethics and Discretion: High ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in sensitive matters.
  • Physical and Mental Stamina: Capability to work long and irregular hours, often under potentially stressful conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and pass a background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education and qualifications in the field of investigations or criminal justice will be a plus.
