When Jaydon came to the WorkSource Pierce JBLM Office, he was eager to earn certifications before transitioning out of the military. He served as a combat medic in the U.S. Army but did not have the certifications needed to transfer into the civilian sector.

Through the Worker Retraining Program, Jaydon attended a Phlebotomy Course at Bates Technical College, where he earned his Phlebotomy Certificate. As a result, he obtained a new job as an Emergency Medical Technician!

Career Advisors were able to further support Jaydon through this endeavor by providing medical scrubs and a laptop and helping him arrange transportation.

As a single soldier living in the barracks, Jaydon did not have a means of adequate transportation. An on-base shuttle was not available for when he needed to catch the bus for his class, so, for the first time, WorkSource was able to provide not only an ORCA Card to cover transportation costs but also a bicycle for Jaydon to ride to the bus stop.

Now, as he works part-time in his new position, Jaydon is also pursuing a Nursing Degree.
