The Spanaway Sentinels Youth Football Sports Program is a comprehensive sports organization based in Spanaway, Washington, dedicated to boys and girls from kindergarten through 8th grade. Our mission is to introduce young athletes to various sports, including tackle football, 7v7 and 5v5 football, basketball, and competitive cheer/stomp, fostering their development towards earning varsity positions and understanding competitive play. With over 25 experienced coaches and access to top-notch facilities, we emphasize safety, teamwork, and personal growth, ensuring each athlete receives personalized mentoring and training. Our program has a proven track record of alumni advancing to varsity high school teams and securing Division 1 college scholarships.
Internship Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Sports Instructor/Coach/Mentor intern to join our team. In this role, you will engage directly with young athletes, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship across various sports disciplines. You will assist in developing training programs, leading practice sessions, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages personal and athletic growth. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of youth in our community while gaining hands-on experience in sports education and mentorship.
Intern Opportunity Details
- Internship Wage: $16.66 – $20.00 per hour
- Maximum Hours Per Week: 20
- Minimum Internship Length: 120 Hours
- Maximum Internship Length: 320 Hours
Requirements
- Ability to work effectively with children in a sports setting.
- Candidates over 18 must pass a background check; assistance will be provided for this process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with young athletes and team members.
- Familiarity with fitness and conditioning equipment to develop and implement training programs.
- Experience with statistical tracking software for monitoring athlete progress and game statistics.
- Utilization of communication platforms to coordinate with team members, athletes, and parents.
- Ability to employ training aids and goal-setting tools to enhance skill development and motivation.
