Internship Position Overview
Kyla Care Therapy is seeking a compassionate and reliable Community Health Worker / Client Support Intern to assist clients with non-clinical support. This internship is ideal for someone interested in public health, health equity, or social work. Interns will gain hands-on experience in client engagement, referrals, and trauma-informed care, while supporting outreach and community connection efforts.
Intern Opportunity Details
- Internship Wage: $16.66 – $19.00 per hour
- Estimated Hours Per Week: 12
- Minimum Age Requirement: 18
- Location: Virtual (with occasional in-person outreach opportunities)
Skills the Intern May Learn
- Providing non-clinical support to individuals navigating reproductive or mental health challenges
- Building trust and rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Helping clients access housing, food, parenting, transportation, and other resources
- Using referral systems and maintaining resource databases
- Documenting client contacts and outcomes in tracking systems
- Supporting groups, workshops, and outreach events
- Practicing trauma-informed, culturally responsive engagement
Tools/Equipment/Supplies Required
- Computer or tablet with internet (provided or reimbursed if needed)
- Access to Google Drive and client resource database (provided)
- Phone or secure messaging app for follow-ups (training provided)
- Transportation support may be provided for outreach events
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older and eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must complete confidentiality and HIPAA compliance training
- Weekly check-in with supervisor and documentation of support work
- Willingness to learn and apply trauma-informed principles
- Completion of onboarding training on referral systems, boundaries, and advocacy
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in health equity, public health, or social work
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with navigating community services or social service systems
- Comfort with phone calls, emails, and virtual client contact
- Lived experience and/or cultural competence supporting marginalized communities
