    The City of Tacoma is now accepting applications for Apprentice Signal and Lighting Electricians.

    **Anticipated start date for this recruitment will be Summer of 2024**

    City of Tacoma

    Individuals selected for this position will be formally enrolled in the City of Tacoma’s Signal and Street Lighting Electrician Apprenticeship program. The program requires a minimum of three-and-one-half years to complete.

    Employees perform apprentice-level work assisting journey-level Signal and Lighting Electricians in the installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal and street lighting systems.

    Continued enrollment and employment is subject to attending off-hour training, without additional compensation, and maintaining the progress set by the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee.

We welcome highly motivated, driven candidates to apply for a spot in our flagship class of Auto Glass Technician Apprentices.

    You will start the program at $20 an hour.  When you complete the 14-month program, your hourly rate will go up to $25 an hour and you will be eligible to participate in our bonus and incentive pay programs.

    Qualifications:

    • 18 years or older.
    • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
    • A state issued driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
    • Must pass a criminal background check and a motor vehicle records check.

    DSHS’s Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration (FFA) has created a new Painter Apprenticeship program to help build our future maintenance workforce. This program is approved and recognized by L&IWFSEWSATCCITC, and our journey-level employees working at our Buckley care facility: Rainier School Residential Habilitation Center. Upon successful completion of an intensive 36-month on-the-job training program and classroom education with CITC, you will have achieved journey-level scale as a Painter.

    Work shifts during core curriculum training are dayshift Tuesday through Friday.

    We will be hiring 2 painter apprentices.  Free ORCA cards are available for Pierce County employees.

    Western Washington Apprenticeship Expo – August 5th

    The Western Washington Apprenticeship Expo is being presented by WorkSource Pierce and TLG Learning. 

    This is an opportunity for job seekers to learn more about apprenticeships/job openings in Pierce County and other regions in Western Washington.  All of the apprenticeships being featured are paid and provide candidates a pathway into a living wage career. Also, over 90% of the employers/apprenticeship providers attending are L and I Registered Apprenticeships.  In other words, these apprenticeships are vetted by the State of Washington and are legitimate opportunities.  We also included a few other apprenticeships that we know change lives.

    Fields represented in this Apprenticeship Fair include Traditional and Non-Traditional Apprenticeships:
